La Zecca dell'Italia Unita, sita sul colle Esquilino a Roma, è stata inaugurata il 27 dicembre 1911
da re Vittorio Emanuele III, nell'ambito delle celebrazioni del Cinquantenario del Regno d'Italia.
L'edificio, che fu realizzato dal 1908 al 1911 su progetto delling. Carlo Mongini,
attualmente è il palazzo storico della Zecca italiana. Venne concepito come un luogo particolare,
con le officine di coniazione, il Museo e la Scuola dell'Arte della Medaglia (fondata nel 1907),
unendo così la produzione, la divulgazione e la conservazione della storia dell'arte.
La stampa rappresenta il frontone posto sulla sommità dell'edificio, realizzato dallo scultore Giuseppe Magni.
La decorazione circonda un orologio che ha sulla destra Mercurio, con il caduceo e una cornucopia
da cui fuoriescono monete, a sinistra una figura allegorica con i simboli e gli strumenti del lavoro e della coniazione,
una ruota dentata e un bilanciere, il tutto sormontato dallo scudo Savoia.
