Lead Stress Engineer (UK assignment)

Role Overview:

• Lead a team of stress engineers supporting customer on analysis of rotating equipment and static components
• Work within QuEST team leading stress analysis and lifing support to customer R&T programs
• Support other stress related activities as required from time to time by the customer
• Understand analysis requirements from the design and analysis managers and allocate to team for analysis
• Review Model and results of linear and non-linear static analysis, normal modes, harmonic response, PSD as required
• Guide and review out HCF and LCF life estimation calculations from team
• Guide and review Campbell diagrams to predict margins on critical speeds from rotor dynamics/ blade vibration as required

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES / ACCOUNTABILITIES:

• Lead a team of stress analysts
• Responsible for understanding analysis requirements and allocating to team
• Responsible for reviewing results and providing corrective guidance as required to the team
• Responsible for estimating efforts and meeting schedules for analysis

COMPETENCIES & SKILLS:

• Experience in rotating machinery analysis gas turbine/ steam turbine using ANSYS
• Experience in leading and guiding a team of stress analysts
• The use of latest version of ANSYS Workbench
• Excellent problem-solving skills
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Good working knowledge of MS Software i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project
• Good time management, proactive with an ability to prioritise
• Clear verbal and written communication
• Extensive gas turbine analysis experience – shafts, seals, structures etc.
• Good working knowledge of MS Software i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE:

• BE/ ME/ MTech in Mechanical Engineering
• Very experienced in hand calculations for sizing of fits, tolerance stack, sizing of mechanical elements such as shafts, fasteners etc.
